I read an article yesterday with regards to how Marvel and Disney may be merging shortly. This could have some serious implications for both Cryptologic and Playtech in the fact that such a merger could ultimately lead to their no longer being able to supply what I consider to be some of the best games that are currently offered by Crytologic and before Playtech even get's a chance to debut their games based on Marvel movies vs. the comic books. It would be absolutely tragic if this would come to pass as such. The fact is that family friendly Disney would certainly not renew (at least from what I read and what I beleive as well) the rights and license to using the Marvel themes within their slots games. Chopping the Marvel online casino slots games out of the selection of games currently available at Cryptologic will mean losing about 20 games currently available that are Marvel themed within their casinos. My personal opinion is as such that this would be a big blow to Cryptologic and really affect the loyalty of it's players. I'm interested in seeing how things pan out but if the merger does go down for certain I really think that they're going to be kind of screwed. Have a nice weekend everyone! | |

I definitely think that it's feasible but I think that because Cryptologic casinos operate outside of the US meaning that they don't accept wagers from US players that the games might be OK as might their renewal of the license to carry the games within their software. The big UK and Euro audiences would likely not be affected by any such merger between Disney and Marvel. Additionally I don't think that Disney is really all that big as it is in Europe which just reinforces my point that any such merger would be OK. It would certainly such if they do loose the games though as they are such a big part of Cryptologic's image now. Perhaps though this is one thing that may work against them... I'm not sure what will come of all this actually come to think of it but I'd be rooting for Cryptologic in this case and their ability to maintain the games. Wiz | |

It seems as though such a deal that could cause the loss of the Marvel slots in InterCasino and other Crypto powered casinos would be of big impact to the software provider and it's operators. The new release of these games that they've been pushing out have been impressive in comparison to their older games and if they continue to head down this path I would imagine that they'd get only better. I suppose that they may not have a chance to showcase any further games. I bet they've even ceased the development of any further negotiations on more Marvel branded games until this has all been sorted out. | |

Re: Loss of Marvel online casino games would suck! Hopefully this acquisition of Marvel by Disney won't affect the current relationships with existing licensing partners. I'm sure that Marvel has tons of different companies that license the rights to using their characters and comic book themes. this is just another of those cases. Of course it's a little different because it's gaming but it's with a company that's well regulated and publicly traded. Cryptologic is a big company and I don't think that this should be a problem. | |

A family oriented brand cannot be associated with any gaming activity. I actually really think this was a bad move for Marvel as they can certainly make a lot more money with their untapped comic book brands. I beleive that Stan Lee has made a mistake here and if this transaction hasn't gone though yet I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't. I beleive that it would be good for everyone involved it they stayed true and didn't sell out like all other big comic book companies. The last one left should they sell out will be Dark Horse but again I'm hoping the deal doesn't go though. | |
